Grieving a Loss While Living a Life

Approved for 2 OASAS Credits and 2 CE’s (NYSED contact hours)*

Children who are struggling with feelings around a death of a loved one, need help with the complex challenges of grieving. Despite the energy it takes children to manage the emotionally exhausting reactions connected to grief, they are still required to meet responsibilities of school, socialize with peers and achieve the expectations of growing up. This workshop will provide insight into the multi-faceted impacts of loss on a child’s life. Creative arts activities will be introduced to encourage the expression of feelings and the development of coping strategies. Interventions targeted to increase children’s self-awareness, help them identify needs and improve effective communication will be presented.
