Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center is a free service offered at the Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Inc. designed to assist family members who have a relative with a mental illness and want to better understand mental illness, the mental health system and all related programs and services. A generous contribution from the Ann Alllen Cetrino Family Fund has made it possible to successfully operate a series of interconnected programs developed to educate families about the nature of mental illness and give them a window into their loved one's struggle.

The mission of the Family Resource Center is to provide family members with the necessary resources and support services so that they may help their relative work toward recovery and achieve their highest level of success and functioning. A Family Intervention Specialist assists the family members of individuals with psychiatric disorders to live safely and independently in a community of their choice by linking them to a broad range of services (e.g. medical, psychiatric, social, vocational, legal, housing, financial, and support services). Caregivers who need or want access to an experienced mental health professional trained to help you obtain the knowledge and support you need, are welcomed and encouraged to contact the Family Resource Center at 516-489-2322 ext. 1234.
