Does someone you love have a mental illness?
If so, you are invited to try out our free service at the Mental Health Association of Nassau County, Inc. designed to assist family members who have relatives with mental illnesses and want to better understand mental illness, the mental health system and all related programs and services. A division of the Family Resource Center, the Family Intervention Program is centered on providing family members with the resources and services to obtain knowledge about treatment and offer the support and skills needed to cope more effectively. The Family Intervention Specialist will provide linkage services, including: coordination of care, healthcare and benefits counseling, education about mental illnesses and medications, strategies for handling crises and relapse, guidance locating the appropriate support services within their community and assistance applying for treatment, financial, educational, vocational and housing services. In addition to the Family Intervention Program, the Family Resource Center also offers Family Support Groups and a Family Support Helpline.
