The Duck Project

Breaking the stigma around mental health one duck at a time.

How It Started

Hi, I’m Alexis Butler and I started The Duck Project to help break the stigma around mental health. Ducks are often used to represent family, community, grounding, abundance, and more!

When things in my life were hard, my dad, Jeff McQueen, shared this with me: “Let whatever is happening roll off your back like water off a duck.” That wisdom carried me through tough years in high school, and now I want to share that positivity with others.

We’ve scattered ducks in several locations with positive affirmations and a chance to get connected with MHANC. If you’ve found a duck, I hope it brought you a smile. Help me “break the stigma” around mental health by sharing your duck with the world!

Keep your duck as a reminder to let whatever is happening “roll off your back like water off a duck,” or leave it for someone else to find!
